Frequently Asked Questions
What is included on a typical wedding day?
We arrive at your house, then we’re off on a 30 minute walk or run. When we’re back, we brush your pet’s coat and spray some doggy cologne. We secure your pets into their seatbelts for safe car travel and drive to the ceremony venue. Your pet’s are dressed in their wedding-day attire - ready to greet your guests. We’ll assist them if they have a role in your ceremony, afterwards moving to the photo location. We’ll keep your pets attention with their favourite foods/ball/squeaky toy and work with the photographer to get the best poses possible! Afterwards we’re back in the car to go home, have some playtime, eat some dinner and be tucked into bed for the night. We’ll pick up any poops and give any medications required.
Where are you based and how far do you travel?
We are based in Geelong, Victoria with staff located around Melbourne. We currently service Metropolitan Melbourne, Geelong, Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula, the Surf Coast, Bellarine Peninsula, Colac and Otway Shire, and Ballarat. As of early 2023, we proudly service the Rutherglen wine region and surrounds.
Any trips further than 30km return from Geelong or Melbourne CBD will incur a travel charge and road toll charges (if applicable).
Don’t see your location here? Please get in touch! We can travel anywhere in Victoria if we have availability on your date.

Do you only offer this service for dogs?
Every animal can be catered for at The Wedding Sitter! This business was born after having our darling cat, Theodore, at our own wedding. As veterinary professionals, we have experience handling all small animals - dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and reptiles.
We are also able to chaperone horses if a float is supplied or if they have already been transported to the ceremony venue.
Your pet’s species isn’t mentioned? Get in touch to discuss further.
Do you provide attire/outfits for our pets on the day?
Yes we do! We can provide flower collars, bow ties, tuxedo collars, and luxe collar and leash sets.
We want your pets to truly look like one of the wedding party! So please send us photos of your bridesmaids or groomsmen’s attire so we can match accordingly.
The hire of these items is included in our package price.

Or are you looking for a longer stay, or are pets not allowed at your accommodation? We can also transport your pets to and from your chosen pet hotel/boarding facility, and have a close working relationship with some reputable petsitting businesses we can recommend.
We have plenty of contacts in the industry and can give some great recommendations - just ask!
Do you offer grooming?
On the wedding day we will brush and deodorise your pet’s coat - however, we are not professional dog groomers! This is why we offer 20% off the regular price of your pet’s groom with our friends at Short Bark N Sides Doggy Day Spa, Geelong West. They offer everything from bathing, to tidy up clips, to full grooms of every dog breed. Elva has been grooming since 2008 in both corporate and private salons. In that time she has groomed, trained other groomers, competed in grooming competitions, set up salons and helped support multiple grooming salon teams - so we know you are in experienced and talented hands!
Do you have a limit for how many pets you can assist on the day?
Technically no, however it is our duty of care to ensure all animals are kept safe throughout the day - this is why we may require an extra handler if you have boisterous, reactive, or very excitable dogs, or if there are more than 2 small to medium-sized dogs, even those that are well-trained on lead. This is so we can prevent any accidents and act quickly if a pet or a person sustains an injury.
Are there any venues you can recommend?
Absolutely! There are so many pet friendly venues throughout Victoria.

What happens in an emergency?
All Wedding Sitter staff are trained veterinary professionals and will provide your pets with immediate first aid if required, then safely transport them to the nearest open veterinary clinic for treatment.
When we meet with you we collect emergency contact details - this might be a member of the wedding party, parent or another trusted friend/family member - they would always be contacted in an emergency situation. We also collect the details of any relevant veterinary history for your pets; including allergies and any behavioural triggers.
Your animals are in safe hands with us at The Wedding Sitter.
